Why are there so many hungry people?
Climate changes and induced shocks, civil insecurity and declining food production have all contributed to food scarcity and high food prices. There is also increased food demand and changing consumption habits, driven by demographic factors like population growth and urbanization.
Ways to Eliminate Hunger and Malnutrition
There will need to be investments in rural and urban areas and in social protection, so poor, vulnerable, children and infants have access to food and can improve their livelihoods.
Investment in the agriculture sector by involving more women and youth are also critical for reducing hunger and poverty, improving food security, creating employment and building resilience to disasters and shocks.
